A group of Manassas residents are "hiding" painted rocks around the city, as a way to brighten people's day.

The group, aptly titled Manassas Rocks, was formed "to inspire creativity in all ages and energize people to explore the beautiful area we live in, according to their Facebook group page.

The "rock clubs" started back in 2006 in Florida, when a resident began hiding the rocks for other residents to find.

They're asking people to paint rocks however they'd like, potentially including a hashtag with the city the individual is from, like #Culpeper and #Manassas.

"The goal is to get lots of people across our communities painting so that there are lots of rocks to be found out there. You might find yourself rediscovering parts of our community you haven't appreciated in a while," stated their Facebook page.

The group is also encouraging participants to share photos of the rocks they've decorated, and when they find them around Manassas.
